Deconstructing/reconstructing Harris Tweed

My Harris Tweed obsession has led to many experiments where I have deconstructed and then reconstructed pieces of Harris Tweed which show their pattern and combinations of yarns in a larger format.

These two contrasting blue yarns which are used for the warp and weft, are not immediately obvious in the original tweed, but combine to make a zingy mix.

Upcoming shows/exhibitions

Bear Flat Artists is taking place this year from Saturday 26th May - Monday 28th May 2018.

On show will be recent textile experiments including loom weavings and furniture which uses the textiles as upholstery. And a commission for a dressing table with models, a prototype and the finished piece to show the design process, from start to finish.

Setting up business since March 2015

Getting my work out to the public has included taking part in a monthly market in Eindhoven and setting up an on-line shop.

My on-line shop is now open showing (to start with) a small range of products. They are for sale through two sites, Etsy and Markita

Using four different pieces of Harris Tweed (much loved and remembered cushions), they were developed into an artwork on canvas showing off the beauty of the individual yarns and also the original fabric.
